THEATER IN PHOENIX

Valley Youth Theatre

Valley Youth Theatre holiday season production

About the Valley Youth Theatre:

A regional theatre that began in 1989, this youth based enterprise focuses on giving children the opportunity to participate as actors, technicians and musicians in a stage production. The theatre produces six shows each season. As many as 900 young people from all backgrounds come to audition and more than 350 are chosen to bring the youth centered production to life. Two of the six shows each season are presented at the Herberger Theatre Center and the rest are at the Valley Youth Theatre stage on N. 1st Street in downtown Phoenix. There is no fee for those that become involved to participate in the shows. Classes in the performing arts are also available for a fee and are offered to ages 3 and up, allowing those budding stars to get started at a very young age!

The Valley Youth Theatre has won countless National Youth Arts Awards and is frequently voted, "Best Of..." in a variety of categories. Performers generally range in age from 7 to 19 years of age and can audition throughout the year for individual shows. If the show is a musical, be prepared with a song to sing and loose clothes that let you do a little dancing too. And if you don't get in... don't give up. Just come back and try again. Tickets to shows are very reasonable. A little tip: the total paid for a ticket is going to be a little less if bought at the box office than if bought online.
