If you are a fan of improv comedy then the Neighborhood Comedy Theatre is sure to please. What is improv you say? Well imagine a skit where nothing is written before the show happens and the audience decides on the spot what the skit will be about. It's a special comedy challenge that allows comedians to hone their skills as they make up funny stuff right on the spot. One never really knows what is going to happen and no two shows are ever the same.
This style of improv is considered competitive improv wherein there are usually two teams of players that play games and scenes with audience suggestions. The audience gets to vote for the team they think is the funniest and the evening is a good-hearted battle between the funny, the funnier and the funniest.
With two shows on both Friday and Saturday nights, there is the option of a family safe show where the material is appropriate for all ages. Later in the evening is the second show where the subject matter can venture into the more racy and less censored fare. Special theme evenings are also common as well as classes, workshops and private and corporate events. The Neighborhood Comedy Theatre is located in Mesa. They offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and also have some snacks for sale at their concession.
